We already know the contestants for November’s general election for treasurer because there was only one candidate on both the Republican and Democratic ballots.
49-year old Diana Irey Vaughan will be the Republican nominee for treasurer. Irey Vaughan is the only woman elected as a Washington County Commissioner and in January began serving her fifth 4-year term in that office.
In the general election she will challenge Democratic incumbent Robert McCord of Lower Merion, Montgomery County. The 53-year old McCord was elected as treasurer in 2008 defeating Republican Tom Ellis. Prior to his election, McCord was managing director of a venture capital firm.
