The Average White Band, the ’70’s funk soul band, may be best known for their hit song, “Pick Up the Pieces.” They were the first white band to appear on Soul Train. Through the years they have performed at a number of venues in Pittsburgh. Part of their live album, Person to Person, was recorded at the Syria Mosque. Original band members Alan Gorrie and Onnie McIntyre stopped by our studio last week when they were in town for the Jazz Live Festival.
