The release of the 1940 census provides an important snapshot of America. Unlike any other census, it captures America at a crucial time in its history. The census shows how Americans lived at the end of the depression and on the eve of WWII. We’ll learn about the importance of this census with Margo Anderson, Professor of History and Urban Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Also taking part in the conversation is Post-Gazette columnist Brian O’Neill, whose latest column was about the census, and Alexis Macklin, Director of the Detre Library & Archives at the Heinz History Center.
