Two feature films titled Spoil and On the Trail of Genghis Khan, will be presented at the Byham Theater downtown on April 6thand 7that 7:00 PM as Venture Outdoors presents the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. The festival also includes short clips involving skiing, human behavior, environmental issues and protection.
The Canada-based Banff Centre supplies the feature and short films, and a Venture Outdoors committee decided on which ones to show over the Easter weekend based on Western Pennsylvania’s outdoor interests.
Jon Lucadamo, Project Director for Venture Outdoors, says the film festival is more than just entertainment.
“The goal of the festival for Venture Outdoors is to raise awareness of the outdoor recreation amenities in the region, to bring everyone together, to help develop an outdoor recreation community, and to help kick start the outdoor recreation season,” Lucadamo said.
Not to be confused with the Radical Reels tour in September, the Banff Mountain Film Festival, Lucadamo says, is less high-adrenaline. He notes that there is some harsh language, but the films and clips are mainly family friendly. Lucadamo says the event sells out every year. More information about the films and tickets can be found on the Venture Outdoors website.
