Carol Aichele is Secretary of the Commonwealth and Pennsylvania’s Chief Election Official. She and Governor Corbett’s Administration support the Voter ID Bill currently on the books in the PA House of Representatives and say the bill will build citizen confidence in the electoral process. Witold “Vic” Walczak, Legal Director of the Pennsylvania American Civil Liberties Union, opposes the Voter ID law and says he will seek legal action if the law passes. According to the ACLU, photo identification requirements will disenfranchise voters, are costly, and will be an added burden to elections administrators. Linda A. Kerns is a Philadelphia attorney who has represented the Republican Party in recent election cases. She recently wrote an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer explaining why she thinks the Voter ID law is necessary for controlling voting irregularities.
